Over the next 30 years, Metro Vancouver is expected to welcome 1 million new residents. As Vancouver grows, so does its transportation needs.
In June 2014, the Metro Vancouver Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation shared a 10-Year Transportation Vision outlining transit and transportation investments to keep Metro Vancouver moving.
The Vision includes an extension of the existing Millennium Line SkyTrain service, from VCC–Clark to a new station at Arbutus Street, tunneled beneath the Broadway Corridor.
Current rumors have Kitsilano’s Arbutus stop at 2080 West Broadway, where the Pinnacle Living condo is located.
The City is now working with partners to plan, design, and develop business cases for the provincial and federal government.
If these business cases are accepted and funding from all three levels of government is confirmed in 2017, construction could begin as early as 2019. Construction is expected to take five to six years.
Vancouverites are invited to participate in an online survey from January 23 to February 13, 2017 to share your feedback on the Millennium Line Broadway Extension project.
There are also three open houses planned in the community starting today from 1pm to 5pm at Douglas Park Community Centre at 801 W 22nd Avenue.
