I have to say I agree with the sign outside the Great Wok Restaurant at 1961 West 4th Avenue.
They do have the best Dry Ginger Beef in Vancouver – well, at least Kitsilano. I don’t know how much beef actually makes it into this dish but it’s damn good. And no M.S.G. to boot!
Let me know if you like the quick & dirty restaurant reviews – I could get used to this effortless posting format.

Hey Paul,
Thanks for the comment – I don’t make it over to the Eastside very often, but I’ll check out Chong Qing Szechuan the next time I am.
Rob.
Keep the restaurant reviews coming – you’re three for three now.

Don’t call Great Wok Restaurant for delivery, though. They just brought half our order. When we called to ask when the other half would be coming, they said it would be an hour. The first half took an hour… so, having ordered our food at about 6 p.m., we will (hopefully) be eating by 8:30 or so.
I can’t make a judgment on the ginger beef, which is sitting untouched in my fridge, waiting for the rice and the rest of the food. But it better be the best food ever made to justify a more-than-2-hour wait.
We definitely won’t be doing business with them again.
Tried them all – the best ginger beef is at the Szechuan Chili Restaurant (802 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver).
Great Wok was great, but it’s closed now. Agree with John, Szechuan Chili on W 6th has very good ginger beef.
Thanks, John. The Szechuan Chili Ginger Beef on West 6th was great!
Tried out the Ginger Beef at Szechuan Chili on W 6th and it was excellent. Other dishes were good too. Thanks for recommending.
Szechuan Chili (802 West 6th Ave)ginger beef was the best I’ve had. The General Tsos chicken was very good too.
