Kitsilano’s very own Trevor Linden watched last nights game in Edmonton from the press box as a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. Meanwhile, back in Kitsilano the Linden trees on West Broadway are facing the same fate. In a city have where trees are revered to the point of provoking cultural wars, Vancouver city engineers are planning to take down one-third of the trees along West Broadway to repair sidewalks buckled by their roots. City engineers say that as much as they love trees and try to save as many as possible, it is a question of safety that has led them to recommend removal of up to 66 large Linden trees in the $3.6-million street reconstruction from Larch to Alma.
