Lots of news about the Provincial Transit Plan in the last couple of days. Most local blogs refer to the excellent analysis of Paul Hillsdon, while the official news can be found here.
Directly relevant for Kitsilano is the announcement that part of the $10.3 billion investment in new rapid transit lines will go towards the UBC Line. The Provincial Transit Plan brochure [PDF] suggests that the rapid transit would extend all the way to UBC. Earlier studies into extending the existing Skytrain suggested that this could not extend west of Arbutus, where it would link up with the existing rapid transit bus (#99).
The details remain vague, but the UBC Line has certainly gotten a lot closer.
