Vintage Kitsilano Theatre

2950

Bartholomew Woods posted a great old photo of the Kitsilano Theatre – now the Russian Community Centre – on his Nostalgia and Retrospective blog yesterday that is worth a look. This photo was obviously taken years before this building became Vancouver psychedelic ballroom Afterthought.

  1. Thanks for the acknowledgment!

I’d love to see more photos of the Kitsilano Theatre or old photos of theatres from Vancouver’s past.

Just happened upon your blog because of this vintage Kitilano theatre pic. I hope you have lots of Kitsilano photos posted, or waiting to post.

I am in the throes of putting together a compilation of heritage and vintage photos of Vancouver. It would be appreciated if you have any more old photos and stories to go with them to provide me, along with a release so I can publish the collection – it would be appreciated.
Send me an email with the photo attachments and any stories to go along with them. Identification of the buildings and age of the photo would be good also.
    Thanks in advance.

    Rod

I have just been given a table that belonged to my grandmother and on the bottom of the table is a small history of it and it apparently came from the Kitslano theatre. My Great Grandfather used to work there and there were two tables give to my grandmother and great aunt. If you would like photos or anymore information I could send them to you after the 20th October when I get back to NZ and it has been devanned from the shipping container
