Kitsilano Open Water Challenge

1612

Ever caught a glimpse of bobbing heads and arms in the waves off Kits Beach? Chances are they were members of the Vancouver Open Water Swim Association (VOWSA) and they’ll be at it again this Sunday.

On July 20th VOWSA will be hosting the Kits Challenge – open water swimming at its finest. The Kits Challenge includes 4 race distances ranging from 750 metres right up to 6K solo or relay. I’ll be grabbing a coffee on Sunday morning and watching the action as it starts at 8:30am with the 6K race.

If you’re not interested in the race but eager to check out open water swimming, VOWSA hosts weekly swims from Kits Beach on Monday and Thursday evenings. Swimmers meet at 6pm on the beach in front of the Watermark and usually hit the water about 6:30pm.

  1. Darn I’m in Seattle this weekend. Every year I seem to miss this race. I wish I could be there.
750m is only 6 lenghts of kits pool. Rob, you should be swimming it, not watching!
