After reading Mr Frosty‘s comment announcing that Scoop! (2050 West 4th @ Arbutus) opened their doors on Saturday, we hurried down there tonight after dinner to try it for ourselves. The concept is beautifully simple; choose the size of frozen yogurt you want, choose one, some, or all of the 20 available toppings and scoop them on yourself, add some chocolate fudge or caramel sauce, pay, and enjoy!
The oreo, strawberry, blueberry, chocolate sauce concoction I created for me and our two year old was a huge hit, and we’ll definitely be going back for more.
Lactose intolerant? Don’t despair. They sell Lactaid by the tablet for spur-of-the-moment indulgence.

I tried Scoop, the frozen yogurt is not smooth enough in texture, and the topping choices are lame and overpriced… prefer a good Gelato.
their ordering system is not efficient. you go in then they tell you to goto the back where someone takes your order size then measures the weight of the frozen yogurt and writes it on the cup, you then add toppings from bowls as small as the palm of your hand, once done, the cashier weighs it again and does the math, then rings you in. i think they need to improve their workflow to make it more efficient.
price wise, its pretty high up there. we got 2 small frozen yogurts with a 25% off coupon they had passed given out, with the total coming to almost $8.
it definitely does seem like a spur of the moment overnight venture. the place is very empty, walls are bare, with the exception of a poster doubling as their menus board. the back end of Liquid space is still unfinished, with a table and staff working away as an open office.
it is still cash only, as they have not secured enough funds to open a business account to setup up their debit/credit.
its a great idea as there arent much ice cream/frozen yogurt/gelato places in kits, but i think they need to expand their offerings and tie up all their loose ends to make it past the summer.
Love the place, I’ve got 3 stamps on the card already. Oreo and Strawberry topped with marshmellows.
What the hell are you guys all talking about… I LOVE THAT PLACE.. I love the way the just kept it simple… I mean it’s just yogurt… Don’t need to make a big fuzz about it.. No Fancy Fancy restaurant.. I mean you are in and out just to take out some GOOD DAMN yogurt…
So enjoy the summer heat with a nice cold cup of SCOOP.
Peace.
I think Scoop is great! Its a way better alternative to ice cream in the hot summer weather! The yogurt they have is smooth and tasty! Its much healthier than ice cream and doesn’t leave that after effect of incessant thirst. I scoop all the fruit toppings which are always fresh and delicious! If you haven’t already done so… GO GET YOUR SCOOP!!!
I thought it was pretty good. I’m always around 4th and I’ve been there twice now, i find that the toppings are actually a really cool idea. I enjoyed it the first time, but the interesting part is that after i was finished with my yogurt i was already thinking about what toppings combinations i wanted to try for next time. Anyways, it’s defenitely worth trying, you’ll probably find yourself wondering about topping combinations like i did. Enjoy.
I come here to learn english and they don’t have yogurt in Spain. I would like your store to open in my town.
Thank you!
Their concept isn’t new. They are a knok off of Blueberry World in Robson.
Paul, and Blueberry on Robson is in turn a huge rip-off of Pinkberry in the US.
LA started the “frozen yogurt with multiple fruit/cereal/candy toppings” trend a few years back, Vancouver is just catching up.
I LOVE IT!
Actually Dave, Pinkberry is a rip-off of Forty Carrots in Bloomingdales on Lexington in New York, started in 1975, the founders Pinkberry didn’t get it going until early 2000s. Forty Carrots blows everyone away.
I tried it not too long ago and must say that I do prefer Blueberry.
Went there today for the first time. Loved it. Cool game selection, and we were told that if we go on Tuesdays we get double stamps. 10 stamps gives you a free frozen yogurt.
SCOOP is the best frozen yogurt in Vancouver. and the best deal (especially vs. qoola on denman st)
and to the dude who posted about “forty carrots” in nyc. he’s right…but Scoop is the best in Canada:)…they have a foosball table!!!
NOT as good as QOOLA. Scoop is overpriced and not as yummy….
taste different than Qoola, Qoola has more sugar in their yogurt but , are you kidding me? Qoola is WAY more expensive
