Tomorrow, Wednesday July 23rd, kicks off this year’s HSBC Celebration of Light. As Rob pointed out earlier:
The 2008 HSBC Celebration of Light fireworks schedule and line-up has been finalized.
- Wednesday, July 23 — Canada
- Saturday, July 26 — USA
- Wednesday, July 30 — China
- Saturday, August 2 — Grand Finale
For those new to Vancouver, the fireworks get underway each night at 10pm (rain or shine) in English Bay. The best viewing points are in English Bay, Kitsilano, Vanier Park, and Jericho Beach and a music simulcast is on radio station ROCK 101 (101.1 FM).
Also note – as Rob recently pointed out – that this year the city will offer free valet bike parking in coordination with BEST. However, your best bet is probably to walk down to the water, as traffic gets pretty insane.
If you are planning to watch the spectacle from the water, beware that the VPD will be doing boat-launch blitzes at several launch points, checking boats for safety equipment.
And lastly, London Drugs has partnered with the CofL and will be selling exclusive merchandise, inspired by this year’s artwork designed by Tiko Kerr. Fifteen percent of all merchandise sales will be donated to the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society to keep the CofL alive for years to come.
