Have you ever wondered why Kitsilano doesn’t host its very own Film Festival? No need to anymore. The 2009 Kitsilano Film Festival is coming to Kits on August 14-15-16th this summer and festival organizers are calling for short films to be submitted for consideration up until May 31st.

The Kitsilano Film Festival will take place in the community and neighborhoods of Kitsilano. The parameters of the films and videos in 2009 will be that they must be short films of any genre with a running time not exceeding 20 minutes (credits included). Whether they are indigenous to Canada , or international films, The Kitsilano Film Festival will screen 20 films over two days with musical artists being showcased at the Kitsilano Showboat.

Its purpose is to instill art and culture into the neighborhood of Kitsilano. Its primary purpose is to showcase, support, and nurture independent films as well as to showcase unsigned musical artists.

Interested in getting involved? On Saturday, March 14th they’ll be holding a Launch Party at the Kitsilano Yacht Club (2401 Point Grey Road). Head over to Facebook to RSVP.
