Thanks to the re-instatement of the Celebration of Light fireworks, Bard on the Beach has announced that their popular Bard-B-Q & Fireworks evenings will now go ahead on July 22, 25, 29 & August 1st.
Fortunately news that the fireworks had been saved was announced just before Bard’s 2009 tickets went on sale. The Festival put the four nights on hold until details could be finalized for the theatre/dinner/fireworks evenings.
Bard-B-Q & Fireworks evenings begin at 6:00 pm with Act I of either The Comedy of Errors in the Mainstage tent or All’s Well That Ends Well in the Studio Stage. During an extended intermission, patrons are treated to a salmon barbecue that they enjoy against Vanier Park’s natural backdrop of mountains, sea and sky.
Following the performances, guests take coffee and treats to a private seating area that provides an excellent view of the fireworks. Always a sell-out, Bard-B-Q & Fireworks is a joint fundraiser for Bard on the Beach and the HR MacMillan Space Centre. Tickets are $98, which includes a $25 tax receipt.
Bard-B-Q & Fireworks tickets will go on sale Monday, March 23rd.

In 2008, seeing as the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns, I thought of a brilliant idea, hold a BARD-B-Q on the 25th of January. Then I was told there already were such events held for Shakespeare so I changed the name to “Scottish National BARD-B-Q. People weren’t interested, mainly because it was to cold and wet in Scotland at that time of the year.
I decided to change it to the summer and decided to ask Burns followers their preferred date for such an event. The date of his death and his funeral were the best bets: 21st & 25th of July.
I Googled “BARD BQ” and ………
Aw, come on!!!!
Cheers, Aulyin
