The City of Vancouver Planning Department is currently reviewing Council approved view corridors and building heights affecting several parts of the city and they want your input. The Downtown Capacity & View Corridors Study is a chance for Vancouverites to share their opinions with the City.
View corridors have provided an important method of strengthening our city’s connection to its beautiful natural setting and have influenced some of the city’s most interesting building designs.
City stated objectives of the study are to:
- Update our understanding of the public’s perspectives on significant public views.
- Consider additional development capacity in the downtown, if appropriate, to support public benefits.
- Consider possible modifications, if appropriate, while still achieving the intent of the current height and view corridor policies.
While the views in question don’t affect anyone residing in Kitsilano, this is your chance to influence policy recommendations, so be sure to participate in the survey which will be available online until 4:30pm on Tuesday, June 30th. The City will also be providing regular updates via Facebook and Twitter – @vancouverviews.
