Aside from the climate change flash mob happening at Kits beach, volunteers will also be getting rid of litter from our shores this weekend. The TD Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup will take place in many other shorelines around Vancouver, but Kits beach is where it officially kicks off.
Starting on Saturday, September 19, from 10 am to 1 pm, volunteers can drop by and help rid of cigarette butts, water bottles, plastic bags and other assorted garbage that somehow find their way to the beach. This free public cleanup event will feature live entertainment, refreshments, prizes, and the opportunity for children to make their mark on the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation Kids Monster Mural.
It looks like it’s going to be a sunny day today. So if you’d like some hands-on experience in solving the problem of shoreline litter or even just some meaningful activity that the whole family can join, this seems like a very active way to spend a Saturday morning if you’re not sleeping in!
