For the Love of Chocolate

Being a huge fan of chocolate I’m always on the look out for chocolate shops with a real passion for all things chocolate.

After enjoying a dinner date with my boyfriend we walked into xoxolat (pronounced sho-sho-la). It’s a warm and friendly chocolate boutique in the heart of Kitsilano.

The owner Heather, aka Hodie, invited us in to check out what the shop has to offer.

This is an edible gallery of all things chocolate. This shop has it all. A selection of quality chocolate from around the world and a selection of their own chocolate, including a line of chocolate bars, truffles and drinking chocolate (huge grin)

Heather’s passion for chocolate is contagious. I wanted to taste and discover what it’s all about. Her friendly demeanor and relaxed attitude made me want to stay and ask more questions.

My ultimate favorite was the handmade lavender and dark chocolate bar: with organic, fair trade chocolate. The package reads no preservatives and made with love. It’s got some serious love in it! Not being a huge fan of lavender I was not sure what to expect, however I enjoyed every bit of this dark chocolate infused with a rich lavender taste-yummy!

Amongst this bar, some of their other amazing flavors in the shop are West Coast Breakfast: maple-smoked bacon and espresso coffee, chili and sour cherry, coconut/cilantro, lime, salt and triple peppercorn.

The featured bar at the moment is PBJ – nothin’ better in the heart of winter than comfort food like organic peanut butter and jam tucked into dark chocolate…I’ll be going back to try this one!

Whether you want to stop by and taste some of the worlds finest chocolate or try xoxolat’s own line of handcrafted treats, I suggest you head over to West 8th Avenue in Kitsilano and talk to Heather. She has the right stuff for the chocolate lover, and her passion will make anyone appreciate what chocolate can bring to your life!
