Community Garden proposed for McBride Park

1370

Are you passionate about growing food?  Are you desperate to get your hands on some land?

We are in the early phase of starting a new community garden on the Westside (North of West 16th and West of MacDonald).  Our proposed site of McBride Park (West 4th and Collingwood) is currently being evaluated by the Vancouver Parks department.  However, in the meantime we need a core group of motivated individuals to develop a plan and put an official proposal together.  You can learn more about the process here.

If you would like to get involved please contact mcbridegardens@gmail.com.

How shocking! That you should be trying to overide a decision made and voted on over a year ago to build curbs between the two parks on Waterloo. This issue has been addressed many times in the past and every time the community has voted no to closing Waterloo between 4th avenue and 5th avenue. The reason being that the resulting traffic congestion causes accidents and dangerous situations for children attending Bayview School as well as other drivers and pedestrians. No number of traffic calming devices will reduce the number of vehicles that must use All the North/South roads in the area including Waterloo. You propose to add ‘gardens’ and increase danger to everyone in the area. Shocking!

hmm, no reason the gardens need to be anywhere near that traffic hot spot, it’s a large park.
