Where are You Watching The World Cup?

1687

It took me longer than I want to admit, but I officially have World Cup Fever. The preliminary rounds are concluding and the matches are about to get a lot more exciting and the Vuvuzela horns even louder!

Vancouver restaurants, pubs, coffee spots, and even hair salons and barber shops have embraced the Fifa tourney by bringing in TV’s and expanding their operating hours. So the question is – where is the best place in Kits to catch a footyball match? So far on my list is:

The Epicurean Caffee Bistro especially for any Italy games!

The newly renovated Simpatico restaurant is always packed especially during the Greece matches.

The standard Kits pubs such as the Regal Beagle, Frog and Firkin, The Kings Head and The Local are also great options.

Leave a comment with your favourite spot and I will revisit this post once all the comments are in to crown the top soccer watching spots in Kits.

Elwood’s, The Shack and the CopperTank on Broadway is a nice trifecta of spots all close together with patio room to spill out onto the sidewalk if needed. Though my favorites are the small, unsuspecting, owner-operated places like Gyro/Shawarma shops or cafes because they always have the best energy with one eye on your food as they make it and another on the TV on the wall. Extra points if Gyro veggies go flying cause their team scored or was booked while you order.

    7am games – at home
11.30am games – CBC.ca online. Hardly done a stroke of work since the WC began. Lovely.

The Local – I don’t want to use the word “douchebag”, but is it just me or are the people who frequent that joint rather annoying?

Anyone been to the new burger joint (Romer???) that used to be Pinky’s at 4th and Cypress?

Agreed, “douchebag” may be an apt term for the clientele there. However it does have potential with a large deck and better layout inside than what used to be there. They serve Lucky in a can too. +2 points.

Ok, anyone know places showing the England/Germany match this Sunday at 7am? Kind of desperate without a tv so don’t even mind putting up with a few douchebags.

Could try The Lamplighter for the England v Germany game – seems to be the hub for English supporters.
