The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club is hosting a series of Community Appreciation Nights this summer at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium and they have set aside their game against the Eugene Emeralds on Wednesday, July 21st as “Kitsilano Night”.
Kitsilano Community Appreciation Night will celebrate the businesses and community of Kitsilano and be a great opportunity for community members to take in a ballgame on a beautiful Vancouver summer night. The marketing team at the Canadians have offered Kitsilano.ca the chance to throw the ceremonial first pitch for the 7:05pm start and we’re passing the once in a lifetime opportunity along to our readers.
If you’re a baseball fan and have always wanted to step up on the pitcher’s mound in front of stadium of fans and throw just one pitch, here’s your chance. Simply comment on this blog post with why you should be chosen to throw the ceremonial first pitch and we’ll announce our Kits representative here on Kitsilano.ca on July 14th.
Happy Canada Day!

I am a huge Canadians fans and have attended many many of their games for the last 3 years (including tonight’s Canada Day game). I would love to throw the first pitch and cheer on the Canadians and AJ Kirby Jones (aka Age-Cage (AJKJ))
I moved to Vancouver two years ago and have been following the Canadians through the past two seasons! I love going to the ballpark on a sunny day to support and cheer for the home team! Go Canadians Go!!!
My grandfather joined the Vancouver Fire Dept. in the 1920s because they needed a backcatcher on their baseball team. My great-uncle pitched to Babe Ruth when he visited Vancouver. I’d love to continue the family tradition.
I should be chosen because I started playing baseball when I was three and walked out of school sports entirely when I turned 12 and they told me I had to stop playing baseball and start playing softball now because I was a girl.
But I’m SO over that…those jerks.
