On Saturday, October 2nd at 11am, the city’s first bike park, located in our own Vanier Park will officially open and BMX and mountain bikers finally have a bike park in Vancouver to call their own.

Built by Earth Ramp Bike Parks, the bike park was completed this month and is already in use. It features formed dirt ramps, gaps and jumps that can be adjusted by users as needs arise as well as beginner, intermediate and expert tracks. There is a small pump track that will be expanded in the future as well as a spectator area for viewing riders featuring a big, comfy (concrete) couch. The success of the bike park relies on users to respect the dirt jumps by not riding when they are overly wet, spraying them down when they are dry and dusty, and grooming them when they are worn down.

The park board approved the bike park one year ago. Saturday’s ceremony will feature a ribbon-cutting, cake, and bike demonstrations.
