Visit Maritime Museum on Kits Point before it’s too late

Last January the BC government announced that it pulled its financial support for the proposed replacement National Maritime Centre in North Vancouver which would have seen the famous St. Roch moved from the Vancouver Maritime Museum on Kits Point. The new centre was to replace the 50-year-old Vancouver Maritime Museum in Kits, absorbing that institution’s exhibits, including the St. Roch, an RCMP schooner that was the first ship to completely circumnavigate North America.

Looks like the Vancouver Maritime Museum Society is resolved to make the best of it’s current Kits location and a Groupon deal this weekend certainly indicates that they won’t be moving until late 2011.
