Before you head to the Pink Salmon Festival Sunday, check out this golden family event at the historic Kits House this Saturday. Kits House will be undergoing a large-scale redevelopment starting Fall 2011. Join them to celebrate the history and future of Kits House before they close for construction. The celebration includes Kits House partners, staff, volunteers and Kits neighbourhood residents. It takes place August 27, 1:00-4:00pm at 7th & Vine. There will be good eats, contests, games and more.

Why: Kits House will soon close for construction. They wish to celebrate the Kits House past and future before construction begins. Pre-construction work will begin in September 2010. They expect that this project will take approximately 18 months to complete. The goal of construction is to develop a unique and innovative pilot project to address the core community need* for Neighbourhood House programs and services, daycare and affordable seniors housing with the potential to be replicated across the province.
