Head out to the Winter Wander at Vanier Park Dec. 3

I don’t know about you, but I need extra motivation to get out in winter. Here’s some real incentive. Saturday, Dec. 3, the six cultural institutions that call Vanier Park (Kitsilano’s biggest park) home will celebrate the public space with a Winter Wander event.

Vanier Park is home to the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Vancouver, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Bard on the Beach, Vancouver Academy of Music, and the City of Vancouver Archives – a wide range of cultural experiences within easy walking distance. Perks include reduced rates of $5 for adult entry to all museums, free entry for kids, a glut of food trucks and performances by the talent at Vancouver Academy of Music. You’ll also have the opportunity to win memberships to the three participating museums.

“Before it became Vanier Park, this area was first a First Nations fishing village, then a Royal Canadian Air Force station,” explains Simon Robinson, Executive Director of the Maritime Museum. “We are fortunate that the Vancouver Parks Board started managing the land in 1966 thereby allowing the space to become public park land and a cultural hub.

Note: Venues are open 10:00 am- 5:00 pm, Saturday, Dec. 3. Bard on the Beach will be located at the MOV, as the tents are currently down.
