Celebrate the holiday season with the lighting of the 20 foot Christmas Tree on Kits Beach

Just like the annual Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center in New York City, you can be part of Vancouver Westside first Christmas tree lighting and festivities at the Boathouse Restaurant on Kits Beach.

On Saturday, December 10th join the Kitsilano Chamber of Commerce and the Boathouse Restaurant for appetizers, refreshments and family activities as they light a 30 foot Christmas Tree.

The event runs from 5:00pm to 10:oopm but the tree lighting is at 6:00pm.

Love this site…did NOT like this blog…
The caption read 20 feet tree lighting ceremony whereas the article reads 30 foot tree.

After popping in to the Boathouse last night based on this BLOG’s exciting article, several families were also there to celebrate what we all hoped would become a Kitsilano tradition in lighing the “Big Tree”.

What was actually there was perhaps an eight foot tree (maybe)and as one family quipped: “it might be 30 feet if you included the fact it was on second floor of the restarant”.

Without being The Grinch, it was very anticliactic and left many disapointed families wondering what all the hoopla was about (despite The Boathouse’s and KCC best efforts).

Love to support this next year with a bit more pomp and circumstance and more importantly, an accurate blog/article.

Sorry for the typo. The event organizers advertised the event as a 20 foot Christmas tree, so either way you would have left disappointed.

Thanks for the feedback. And sorry to hear the event fell short.
