With the last name of O’Connor, I was pleased to see the doors open at Ceili’s Irish Pub at W 7th and Burrard a few weeks ago. Ceili’s has a vast array of domestic and imported beers from around the world on tap and by the bottle. But with a kitchen that promises to put a real focus on using seasonal, local, organic and ethically raised food products, this pub is about more than the beer. Menu items include traditional pub fare like nachos and wings, Irish favorites like chicken pot pie and lamb stew, and a few appealing odd balls, like ocean wise fish tacos.
Ceili’s is a Gaelic word that, loosely translated, means a festive gathering with friends, food and drinks. I hope that is exactly what this new pub brings to the neighbourhood. What are your thoughts on the new watering hole? How does it compare?
