Greek Day takes place Sunday, June 24 on West Broadway between MacDonald and Blenheim
WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND IN KITS
1) Say goodbye to Does Your Mother Know? magazine shop.
After 13 years in Kits this neighbourhood favourite is closing Sunday, June 24.
2) Bellow “Opa!” dance, and stuff yourself with Greek treats at Greek Day on Broadway, June 24.
This bash draws 100,000 celebrants to Kits every year. We’ve given you all the event details you’ll need here.
3) Catch the UEFA Euro 2012 finals.
It’s the knockout stage. Tension is high. And the puns by clever soccer writers have never been funnier. Greece was “Not even Klose” to knocking out Germany. The “Turnips beat the Swedes.” And so on. Here’s where to watch.
4) Get your grill on.
I recently wrote about Vancouver’s best sausages and once again, Kitsilano’s foodie cred is preeminent. Our hood boasts four butcher shops plus Plöger Delikatessen.
5) Head out to the Point Grey Fiesta, June 22-24.
With a pancake breakfast, parade and carnival, this family friendly event in Trimble Park is an annual favourite.
6) Plan your Canada Day celebrations.
If you’re heading out of town, now’s the time too book with BC Ferries, trains, buses, flights etc. Next weekend is one of the busiest traveling weekends of the year. If you’re sticking around, check back to read our daily posts on how to celebrate Canada Day in Kitsilano.
