Ayoub’s Dried Fruits and Nuts to open on West 4th

Flavoured Pistacchios from Iran

Ayoub Hosseini is a chef, but not in the traditional sense. His specialty is dried fruit and nuts. His approach, however, is no different than any other great chef – select only the highest quality raw ingredients from the most trusted suppliers and combine those quality ingredients with a variety of sophisticated flavours and textures.

According to Ayoub, the key to great tasting roasted nuts is to eat them right after they come out of the roaster. Anyone who has tried this would likely agree, but truly fresh roasted nuts are hard to come by…until now! Ayoub’s Dried Fruits and Nuts is set to open their third store on West 4th between Maple and Arbutus shortly (exact date not yet confirmed). They promise the very best, hand-selected nuts from the best international suppliers, lovingly hand-roasted. If the Kits location is anything like their North Vancouver or Downtown locations, they also promise an oddly beautiful space for snack shopping (not unlike Jackson’s for meat shopping!)

In my home, we try to keep everyone’s snacks to fruit, veggies, nuts and seeds (okay…”try” being the operative word) so having some more interesting options just around the corner is really exciting. I also hear their saffron pistachios, warm and fresh out of the roaster, are pretty amazing.

Ayoub’s other stores are literal jewel boxes of culinary delight-the chili cashews for instance are otherworldly.

In addition the staff are delightful people-this place is a stellar addition to the hood-certainly the Best thing to happen on 4th Ave in decades.
