I hadn’t been to McDonald’s in years until today when I stopped into the West Broadway/Blenheim location to take advantage of their free coffee promotion. Since 2009 McDonald’s has been working at taking over a portion of the coffee market with massive store renovations and the introduction of their McCafe brand, which includes a line-up of customized espresso based drinks. In recent taste tests, McDonald’s drip coffee has fared surprisingly well, often surpassing Starbucks, so I needed to try it for myself. The verdict: The coffee was okay. It felt weird getting my coffee from a fast food joint, but it was actually pretty good and free.
From now until November 4, stop into one of two Kitsilano McDonald’s locations at 3308 West Broadway or 2391 West 4th to enjoy a free small drip coffee.
