Easter 2013: Egg Hunts in Kitsilano and Beyond

Finding family-friendly Easter activities should be as easy as finishing the small bag of Cadbury mini eggs. But the most popular events, like VanDusen Botanical Garden’s annual Great A-mazing Egg Hunt sell out in the first week of March. Not to worry; Here are your options for Kitsilano and greater Vancouver Easter egg hunts that still have some space.

Egg Hunts in Kitsilano and Beyond

1) Kitsilano Community Centre Easter Eggstravaganza, March 30
The gym will be full of fun activities for all ages; crafts, games, face painting, cookie decorating and much, much more! With special guest drop-in by the easter bunny.

2) Easter Train at Stanley Park, March 23-April 1
Hang out with the Easter bunny and sidekick: Easter Chick. There’s also the chance to partake in Easter craftacular activities. And Easter egg hunts are staged throughout the day near the start of the miniature rail line. Just be sure to BYOB (bring your own basket).

3) Easter at Gulf of Georgia Cannery, March 30
Forget the Easter bunny. Open your mind to new options, like the friendly pink(ish) Easter salmon. Hunt for roe while learning about fishing on the West Coast. There’s also Easter-themed crafts, games and a prize draw for a chocolate.

4) Eco-Easter Egg Hunt at Surrey Nature Centre, March 30
Search for Easter eggs in the forest! Nuff said. But if you need more: Take a picture with the Easter bunny and enjoy egg-themed crafts, fun activities, tasty food and family entertainment. Every child receives a prize.

5) Easter Egg-stravaganza at Mann Farms, March 30-31
A BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket) egg hunt farm-style with the Easter bunny, prizes, a petting zoo, farm rides and more.

6) Easter at Grouse Mountian, March 31
Your favourite brunch staples for adults and kiddos with an Easter egg hunt led by the Easter bunny.

7) Easter Dino Egg Hunt at Britannia Mine Museum, March 31
Britannia-saurus Rex is back this Easter. The dino has hidden eggs will be hidden throughout the Museum site for kiddos to find. The eggs contain gem stones. After the egg hunting is done be sure to join in the activities and identify your gemstones.

8) Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt at Fort Langley National Historic Site, March 31
This event is especially for little bunnies. Your mission? Complete the activities of the scavenger hunt and earn chocolate treats. The all-ages scavenger hunt includes exploring around the fort and earning chocolate as you go. Kids 5 and under can participate in the more contained Egg Scramble – finding as many eggs as they can on the giant map of British Columbia.

9) Easter at Londsdale Quay, March 31
What we know so far: expect Easter activities for kids include face painting, balloons, an Easter craft, and a visit from the Easter bunny.

10) Steveston Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
This perennial favourite showcases Steveston in springtime. It’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket), then hop into businesses handing out Easter treats.
