Yearning for more than a mall and a red Starbucks cup? The old-world Vancouver Christmas Market, an authentic German-style Christmas market, returns to Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza in downtown Vancouver today (Friday, November 22) through December 24.
The holidays Vancouver Christmas Market-style are nostalgic, aromatic and twinkly. Enter into a village of 45 rustic wooden huts surrounding a soaring Tannenbaum festooned with thousands of lights. Partake in Glühwein, sausages, stollen, and gingerbread. Browse Christmas decor and gifts such as nutcrackers, Lauscha glass ornaments, beer steins and wooden trains. Let the kids go wild decorating cookies and riding Vancouver’s only downtown carousel. The Vancouver Christmas Market offers all the “Gemütlichkeit” (Christmas cheer) you need to gear up for holiday season 2013.
The Christmas Market is a tempting festive inducement for Kitilano residents to venture outside the ‘hood. You may even want to pair it with a visit to the free Robson Square Ice Rink.
The 2013 deal: pay for admission and get a free Season Pass so to enjoy the market throughout the 33-day event. On weekdays, the market offers 2-for-1 lunch admission.
