With Summer officially upon us this weekend, things are really picking up in Kitsilano. The summer months are always busy and your local Dairy Queen doesn’t want you to miss out on any of the action, so here are three things to do in and around Kitsilano this weekend…
Point Grey Fiesta: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
The Point Grey Fiesta is the West Side’s annual start-of-summer event for families and it takes place this weekend. Starting with a Saturday parade on West 10th avenue, the celebration continues in Trimble Park with stage performances, activities and exhibitors. Carnival rides in Trimble Park operate from Friday to Sunday. With the exception of the carnival rides and midway games, Fiesta entertainment and children’s activities are free of charge.
Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
180 dragon boat teams from around the world come to Vancouver for the annual Dragon Boat Festival which takes place at Concord Pacific Place (next to Science World). The is a multicultural event is all about the thrilling boat races. You can also expect live music and good eats.
Greek Day on West Broadway: Sunday
Join 100,000 other attendees to shout “Opa!” and dance with a new friend (after, of course, apologizing for your sticky baklava fingers). In addition to the unparalleled Greek cuisine, families will be impressed with the kids zone- including arts and crafts, growing a kid’s herb garden, bouncy rides, face painting, theatre, balloons, and much more.
If you don’t fill up this weekend, save some room for Dairy Queen‘s Customer Appreciation Day on Wednesday, June 25th – everything will be half price!
