Celebrate summer Latin style, at the Carnaval del Sol, July 5 and 6. Presented by Latincouver, this free arts, culture and music festival will bring the passion, energy and flavours of Latin America to Granville Street Mall and Robson Square.
The two-day celebration includes performances by local and nationally renowned Latin musical artists and folk dance troupes, a marketplace displaying the work of Latin American artisans, games for kids and the Copa Latincouver, a street soccer tournament to rival the World Cup. Enjoy the taste of Latin America with delicious home-made cuisine from a host of South American countries including Brazil, Argentina, El Salvador and Columbia or pick up some of your favourite dishes from one of the local food trucks at the Food and Travel Plaza.
Take part in the Copa LatinCouver, a street soccer tournament which will be a highlight of the weekend. If you caught World Cup fever and want to demonstrate your soccer skills register a team before June 30 for the Mini World Cup, which is supported by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
