Free outdoor movies, one of the quintessential elements of summer in Vancouver, are back. This year, there are two downtown options.
Option 1: The Chevron Summer Cinema Series at Stanley Park — free outdoor movies which take place every Tuesday at dusk until September 2.
Option 2: Scotiabank SCENE presents Waterfront Cinema at Canada Place, taking place weekly on Thursdays throughout July and August.

Stanley Park Free Outdoor Movie Schedule
At Stanley Park, Second Beach’s Ceperley Meadows (between Second Beach Pool and the children’s playground) will be outfitted with a four storey inflatable movie screen. Movies starts at dusk. About 5,000 people attend per night; folks love the experience of watching a free movie under the stars in the park. Bring your own blanket, lawn chairs and snacks. There will be bike valet. It’s family-friendly event, so in case it really had to be spelled out: no smoking and no alcohol.
New this season, Fresh Air Cinema has created an 80 seat reserved VIP area where guests can reserve front row Adirondack chair and enjoy a guaranteed seat at any movie night, with partial proceeds from seat sales going to the Vancouver Firefighters Charitable Society. In a partnership with restaurants in the West End BIA, the festival will also be offering nightly “Dinner & a Movie” packages with a three course dinner and a reserved seat at the show for one price. Canada Place Free Outdoor Movie Schedule
At Canada Place, movies are shown on a 40-foot inflatable outdoor screen. Just bring your lawn chairs and blankets and sit back and relax under the stars. The first 300 people will receive free popcorn and the first 50 Scotiabank SCENE Debit and VISA cardholders to show their cards will receive a VIP seat. If you want good seating, it’s best to turn up early. This is a family friendly event, so again, no alcohol or smoking.
