5 Things to Do In and Around Kits this Weekend

1. Go for the Grand Tasting on Granville Island – Thursday, January 15
To kick off this year’s Dine Out Vancouver Festival, this event offers guests a rare and exclusive after-hours opportunity to taste the best of Granville Island, Canadian dairy cheese, and the Wines of British Columbia. Sample the finest, freshest seafood, pastries, bread, and all the comfort foods you desire along with some great wines. Tickets start at $66

2. Head out for a family brunch – Saturday, January 17
Follow West 10th Avenue up into the Point Grey neighbourhood and stop at Darcy’s Cafe. Feel really comfortable bringing the wee ones as there’s a nice little play area for toddlers, a special kids menu, and space for strollers and diaper changes. Menu items include fluffy Belgian waffles, sous-vide eggs on toast, bagels with lox, sandwiches, buttery croissants, scones, cheesecakes, macarons, and more. High tea is also available with advance notice. Closed on Sundays.

3. Listen to live early century songs – Saturday, January 17
British singing sensation Patricia Hammond takes her audience back in time with an evening of song inspired by the Museum of Vancouver’s feature exhibition, ‘From Rationing to Ravishing.’ Be transported on a lyrical journey with ‘rationing-era’ songs to ‘ravishing’ post-war tunes. A cash bar will also be available to enhance the evening’s enjoyment. Tickets are $20

4. Take the kids to a fun music show – Saturday, January 17
Get ready to boogie with Marnie & her Rock n’ Roll Band at the Kitsilano Community Centre. The Music with Marnie Band performs funky, educational, award winning tunes with puppetry that get children and parents moving and grooving. Tickets are $12

5. Catch an NFL playoff game – Sunday, January 18
