Baaa. It’s the year of the ram. You can celebrate the wooly mascot at the annual Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Over 50,000 people come out every year for the vibrant event which includes 3,000 participants such as cultural dance troupes, marching bands and martial arts experts. The lion dancing, in particular, is a sight not to be missed. The event is free to attend and starts at 11am at the Chinatown gate. We’ve included the map below. In case you weren’t aware, our Chinatown is the largest in Canada. We support every effort to keep the historic ‘hood relevant in the face of suburban flight. If you don’t feel like braving the crowds or the weather, you can still join in: they’ll broadcast it on Shaw TV live and again at 9pm.
