Spring break starts next Monday, March 9 and is until Friday, March 20, and Vancouver is always buzzing with events during this time. We’ve given you some great Spring Break kids camp ideas here. Below we have some free Spring Break events listed for you as well, some in Kitsilano and some close by.

6 Free Spring Break Events in Vancouver

 

1. CelticFest Vancouver (runs from March 6th to March 17th)
This fun festival full of green cheer will have lots of free entertainment including a special Celtic kids corner, a Celtic village, poetry readings, Irish dancers, live fiddle music, and the much anticipated St. Patrick’s Day Parade which is on Sunday, March 15th starting at 11am, downtown Vancouver. 2. Vancouver International Dance Festival (runs from March 8th to March 28th)
Although many events during this festival require paid tickets, there are some free public performances, including a Kokoro Dance, which will take place in the afternoon at 2pm and 4pm on March 8th, 15th, and 22nd outside at the Roundhouse Plaza and at the Woodward’s Atrium, downtown Vancouver. 3. Kids Market on Granville Island
Each year this popular (and hectic) spot for great kids toys and more hosts a free Spring Break event which will include crafts, face painting, balloon animals, and more. Check their website for details on dates and hours for this year as it has not been posted just yet.

4. Vancouver Art Gallery
Aimed for kids aged 5-12, the VAG offers a range of exciting, exploratory, and educational activities from March 9th to the 20th, daily from 12pm-4pm. Explore the galleries current exhibitions with engaging and inspiring Art Agents. Then head to The Making Place and try a range of creative hands-on activities directly inspired by the exhibitions. Free for kids 12 and under.

5. Toys “R” Us on West Broadway
Arts & crafts, games, and a treasure hunt, all themed with characters from Big Hero 6, Frozen, Star Wars, and Cinderella will be part of this giant toy store’s Play Day week, from March 16th to the 20th, 1pm-3pm. Recommended for kids 5+ years of age. 6. Chapters on West Broadway
From March 16th to the 20th, this bookstore will have an activity for each day including a Dr. Seuss storytime, Wimpy Kid joke telling, a Lego swapathon and activities, a Disney Cinderella storytime, arts & crafts, and science experiments, starting at 11am.
