Need some ideas on what to do this weekend? Stick around the Kitsilano neighbourhood for some fun including pastry eating, conversations with an artist, burlesque high tea and beachfront engine-revving, all happening this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in our neighbourhood.
4 Things to Do in Kitsilano this Weekend
1. Macaron Day 2015 – Friday, March 20th, all day
The “Picasso of Pastry”, Pierre Hermé, a French pastry chef, started the lovely Macaron Day in 2005, and of course it has continued ever since. Lucky for us in Kitsilano there are many shops and bakeries here creating these light and flavourful confections. Check out Koko Monk, Plaisir Sucre, Linh Cafe, Whole Foods, and Thomas Haas for these colourful beauties. In honour of Macaron Day, Thomas Haas will donate 100% of macaron profits to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Btw celiacs or fad-followers, macarons are naturally gluten free!
2. Artist Talk – Friday, March 20th, 7pm
Hosted by the Contemporary Art Gallery, meet acclaimed Portland artist Harrell Fletcher at the Burrard Marina Field House Studio (by Vanier Park) for an artist talk and open discussion on his recent walking projects. Following this talk is another gathering featuring more artists and further reflections on walking in our city. This is a free event. Dress warmly and bring a hot beverage as some talks will take place outside.
3. Tea & Tease – Saturday, March 21st, 6:30pm till 8:30pm
Enjoy an evening of elegant high tea and indulgent burlesque, a first at Neverland Tea Salon. Tickets include a selection of scones, sandwiches, traditional high tea delicacies, a sparkling palate cleanser, all tea tastings, and the evening’s entertainment.
4. 15th Annual Revscene Spring Meet – Sunday, March 22nd, 11am till 3pm
This free, family-friendly event at Spanish Banks will not only feature many modified vehicles (and their proud owners) but also some great food trucks, sponsors giving away prizes, and entertainment. Come rain or shine.
