There’s a free New Year’s party in Vancouver this year. It’s the first public New Year’s event since 1992, so we’re reporting on it, even though you’ll have to leave Kitsilano to attend. The NYE Vancouver party starts at 6pm December 31, at Canada Place Way, near the Coal Harbour waterfront, between Howe and Burrard.
There will be family-friendly live entertainment from Vancouver performers and food trucks until midnight. Other perks: special sponsor exhibitions, live on-site broadcasts, and a midnight countdown with spectacular fireworks over Coal Harbour. For folks with young children, they’re even runni gan early countdown with a short fireworks performance. Families with children can celebrate Early Eve at the 102.7 The Peak Stage, which includes a 3-minute burst of fireworks from the offshore barge in the middle of Coal Harbour beginning at 9pm.
