Three exciting new concept restaurants are opening soon – some this week – in Kits. These include Japanese-French fusion spot Mak N Ming, which will replace Thai Star restaurant at 1629 Yew Street, Cacao at 1898 West 1st Avenue, and Chi Restaurant Bar bringing Vietnamese cuisine to 1935 West 4th Ave.
Chi restaurant has yet to put menus on their website, but they open August 25, so readers can scout for themselves. Chef Le Chi won runner up on Masterchef Vietnam, so we expect good things. We know the least about Cacao. It’s opening this fall and the menu will be “wild, seasonal, and local with a Latin twist.” Mak N Ming is by chefs Makoto Ono and Amanda Cheng both formerly of PiDGiN in Gastown. The space is 850 square feet and will seat 30. There will be a seasonal chef’s menu as well as a selection of a la carte choices.
Drop by and let us know what you think.
