Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian astronaut to command the International Space Station, is coming to Kidsbooks on West Broadway to sign his new picture book The Darkest Hour.
Being afraid of the dark is a relatively common theme in children’s literature. There are more than a few picture books that deal with the subject, complete with monsters under the bed or in the closet and branches scraping against windows to keep kids from falling asleep at night.
The Darkest Hour is one of those books. Hadfield was selected to be an astronaut in 1992 and who, before retiring in 2013, served as commander of the International Space Station and tells young readers that “outer space was the darkest dark ever.”
Commander Hadfield will be at Kidbooks at 2557 West Broadway on Wednesday, December 7th starting from 6:30pm.
