It’s official. Kitsilano has a new place to workout, eat, and hang.
Taking over the West 4th location previously occupied by Hell’s Kitchen, TurF is a fitness studio, shop, kitchen, and coffee bar.
Founded by Lululemon veterans (and sisters) Deanne and Delaney Schweitzer, TurF was born on the foundation of all the things they love: healthy food, thoughtful apparel, a conscious sweat, the best coffee and building community.
Angela of Eat Spin Run Repeat had a chance to test out the restaurant – a bright, open space lined with long tables – and she immediately fell in love.
Coming out of the kitchen you’ll find vegan-friendly plant-based eats (most of which are gluten free – hooray!) with options to add sustainably sourced ‘happy proteins’. There’s a heavy emphasis on whole foods, no processed junk, environmental responsibility and local sourcing whenever possible. That’s a pretty sound food philosophy, if you ask me.
Just past the restaurant area is the shop, full of all sorts of great finds. TurF collaborated with a local designer on a collection of sweats and tees, and also carries some well-known brands.
On the fitness side of things, TurF’s team of talented instructors teach dance, strength + cardio, boxing conditioning, and meditation classes.
TurF is also the first studio in Canada to offer The Class by Taryn Toomey. Developed in New York City, The Class is described as a cathartic mind-body experience that challenges the body and engages the mind.
TurF is located at 2041 West 4th Avenue and is open weekdays from 6:30am to 8:00pm and weekends from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Hot food service ends at 5pm daily, while grab & go, drinks, smoothies and dessert are served until closing time.
