Sadly the kid-friendly Green Moustache on West 4th closed its doors a few weeks ago. They do plan on reopening in a new location somewhere in Vancouver. Let’s hope it will still be in our neighbourhood. For now, here is our list of the next best kid-friendly restaurants in Kits.
This long-standing favourite is still a welcoming restaurant for families, and not just because of their amazing pies. Little ones get crayons and their own menus, high chairs are available, and there’s plenty of room for strollers and diaper bags. Tip: get there at opening time (9am) on the weekends for a relatively relaxing brunch before it gets too busy.
Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe, 3605 West 4th Avenue, 604-733-8308, organiccafe.ca
Afternoon tea is sumptuous and elegant at this tea salon. There’s a special menu for kids and they will adore drinking out of real china and picking at all the goodies on the 3-tier trays. The interior is whimsical and vintage without being too stuffy, and the service is great. Reservations are recommended.

3. Rajio
This Japanese pub may appear to be for only cool young students, but it’s surprisingly family friendly. They have high chairs, fun non-alcoholic drinks served in whole pineapples and watermelons, and the menu is tapas-style so it’s in bite size pieces and easy to share. Reservations are recommended.
Rajio Japanese Public House, 3763 West 10th Avenue, 604-558-1679, rajiopublichouse.com
Hot and freshly cut fries, flavourful burgers, creamy milkshakes, booth seating, retro atmosphere, and friendly service. Plus it’s easy on the budget – a rarity around these parts.
Moderne Burger, 2507 West Broadway, 604-739-0005, moderneburger.com
5. Burgoo
Good comfort food and craft beers for the adults, and crayons, high chairs, and special menus for the kids. We would recommend coming at lunch time for the best family-friendly vibe.
Burgoo, 2272 West 4th Avenue, 604-734-3478, burgoo.ca
6. White Spot
If you have a screamer on your hands, this is the place to go (sorry White Spot). Personalised kids meals are served in paper pirate ships, and they have crayons, high chairs, and booster seats available. The servers are always ready to help by offering extra napkins and cups with lids, and if things get really bad you can always order and eat in the comfort of your own car here. Oh and they open nice and early at 6:30am.

7. Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company
We always have this great pizza place on family-friendly lists because what kid doesn’t love pizza? Ok, if you have a picky eater that’s fine too as there are lots of other options on the varied and healthy menu. There’s also a play area, room for strollers, and refreshing drinks for adults. Sundays and Mondays are their family pizza making nights from 5pm-7pm.
