How does a refreshingly cool and light, yet filling and delicious superfood sound for this week’s breakfast option? Welcome back acai bowl, it’s been a while.
From the Amazon jungle to the Hawaiian islands, and then over to the Pacific Northwest, the nutritionally-dense acai berry turns into the most wonderful, almost ice-cream-like smoothie. Served in a bowl, the choice of toppings are endless – sliced banana, coconut chips, berries, cacao nibs, granola, bee pollen, and more. Sound good? Here are 3 places to find yourself an acai bowl in Kits.
With a fresh and aesthetically pleasing decor, Glory Juice opens bright and early at 7am during the week and 8am on weekends, and offers four different organic acai bowls with optional plant-based protein add-ons. The Creamy Nutty is our favourite and includes raspberries, blueberries, banana, house-made raw almond mylk, maple syrup, and house-made nut butter.

2. The Juicery CLOSED
This lovely farm-to-bottle juice company uses mostly local ingredients in their acai bowls, including produce from their own organic farm in Pemberton, gluten-free and vegan granola from Two Daughters Bakeshop, and house-made raw and organic almond mylk. Toppings can also include spirulina, bee pollen, and cacao nibs. Check their black board for daily and seasonal selections.

3. Olive + Ruby
The interior of the newish Olive + Ruby cafe is beautiful, with walls of delicate little potted plants and white rattan seats that resemble antique bird cages. And it is only equal to their amazing acai bowls which can be topped with dragon fruit, mango, and dates, along with the usual but always welcome banana, granola, and coconut.
