The forecast is looking rather swell for the next few days so here’s what’s on in Kitsilano this weekend, outside, from a free yoga class to some Shakespeare, and plenty of ouzo.

Play

Friday, June 23rd

Start your weekend off right, Kitsilano-style, with a relaxing (and free) hatha yoga class right on beautiful Kits Beach. Hosted by the Mat Collective, the complimentary class runs from 7pm till 8pm, rain or shine (because this is the west coast). It’s open to all ages and abilities, and some mats will be made available for those who don’t have one. Can’t make it Friday night? There are also free classes on Saturdays from 11am-12pm, and on Sundays, from 3pm-4pm.

Watch

Saturday, June 24th

The annual Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival at Vanier Park has started and there are still tickets available for the quasi-romantic comedy The Winter’s Tale for the 2pm and the 7:30pm showings on Saturday. Earlier in the day at 11am, you can catch an hour long talk at the Exploring Shakespeare tent where you can have all of your questions answered and leave with a fuller understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare’s plays.

Eat + Drink

Sunday, June 25th

Come celebrate the Greek Day festival all along West Broadway from MacDonald to Blenheim Street. From 11am till 9am, these five blocks will be closed off to traffic to make room for lots of fabulous food trucks serving up classic Greek dishes, plus a variety of market vendors, live cooking demos, music, entertainment, and a special kids zone. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend this annual fun fest so practice your yasu (hello) and yamas (cheers) and enjoy.
