Here’s what’s on this weekend in Kits, from farmers markets to farm to table outings, and a quirky art show.

Shop

Thursday, July 20th

Come out and meet the neighbours at the little Westside Community Food Market every Thursday, from 3pm to 7pm, until September 14th. The market will feature local vendors selling fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, and crafts. They will be set up just outside of the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House at the corner of Vine Street and West 7th Avenue.

Watch

Friday, July 21st

Here’s another event at the Kits HouseReef-O-Rama – an art show by Canadian eco-artist Evelyn Roth that’s larger than life with giant interactive installations, colourful inflatables, dancers, and live performances from the talented jazz fusion band, In Fuse. Most of Roth’s unique art has been made with various recycled fabrics. The show starts at 7pm and the $20 tickets are available at the front desk of the Kits House (kids are free). Part of the proceeds from this event will go towards the Kits House and towards coral reef conservation.

Eat

Saturday, July 22nd

Besides watching out for naked bike riders today (the World Naked Bike Ride is on), it’s brunchday. Pick from one of these favourites: The Oakwood, Aphrodite’s, or Fable. Oh and Fable also does a nice summer Early Bard menu (so you can get out in time for a show at Bard on the Beach) before 5:45pm which consists of three courses for $35.

Shop, Watch, and Eat

Sunday, July 23rd

The Kitsilano Farmers Market is in full swing now so fill your reusable bags with lush Okanagan cherries, peaches, and apricots, plus all your favourite salad fixings, garlic scapes for the bbq, happy eggs, local chocolates, and so much more. And don’t miss the sweet and savoury buckwheat crepes from the Crêperie La Bohème food truck on site.
