Vancouver cyclists may soon have another route into the downtown core.
The Transportation 2040 Plan identified the Cambie Bridge as a priority project to improve walking and cycling comfort and safety.
Currently the east sidewalk is shared by pedestrians and cyclists but the sidewalk has become busier over the last decade with conflicts increasing between people walking and cycling.
The City of Vancouver is proposing to install a new southbound protected bike lane on the west side of Cambie Bridge. Interim improvements will help relieve pressure on the east side shared-use path. Over the longer term, the sidewalk on the west side of the bridge ramp may be widened.
