If spiked bubble teas, hot chocolates with a kick, and karaoke with your beer sound like a night of fun to you (it does to us!), try one of these three unconventional options for drinks this weekend in Kitsilano.
This modern Taiwanese bar with interesting wooden features and neon decor just opened last fall. It takes the traditional idea of bubble tea to a whole new (and glowing) level. The tapioca pearls and fruit syrups used in Sencha’s creative cocktails are all made in-house, and the drinks menu includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic bubble teas, slushies, and smoothies.
Try the Passionfruit Heineken Green Tea or the Flirtini (with watermelon and strawberry) for a start. If you’re feeling peckish, there’s a food menu available as well that includes savoury bao buns, fried chicken wings, rice and noodle bowls, plus delicious waffles for dessert.

Fairly new as well, this casual little cafe opened up last summer in the old Cornerstone Coffee spot. It’s essentially also a coffee shop but a licensed one, and, they serve some pretty good Mexican snacks, too, including tacos and burritos. To drink, try the authentic Mexican Hot Chocolate with an added shot of Kahlúa – what an excellent way to start or finish your day.

Most Saturdays the Legion in Kits Point has a karaoke night from 7:30pm till 11pm with a full bar available and a good selection of beer on tap. Other nights you might catch a live band playing, have the opportunity to play darts and ping pong, or enjoy a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. The cozy, British-style pub of the legion welcomes everyone so you don’t need to be a member to go there, but a membership is encouraged.

Please don’t send more people to our legion. we like it just the way it is. too many young people make too much noise and our neighbours complain.
