It’s looking like a typical Vancouver weekend, weather-wise. Meaning it could be sunny with a bit of rain and clouds. So here’s what’s on in Kitsilano neighbourhood for those three days, rain or shine.
Friday, June 1st
There are three more days left of the Bike to Work Week, so make it happen, whether you registered officially or not. Then after work, reward yourself and your friends with some happy hour drink deals at The Cove Pub on West 4th Avenue. Their happy hour runs from 4pm till 6pm, and then again anytime after 10pm till closing.
Friday nights also includes cocktail specials at The Cove, and they just came up with a deliciously refreshing spring cocktail called the Basil Smash – made with local Wallflower gin, fresh basil, lemon juice, blueberries, syrup, and soda. Feeling hungry, too, after all that biking? Try their new BBQ Meatloaf Burger that includes a fried egg and frizzled onion, served on a house-baked focaccia bun. Oh yeah. And, it comes with a side of duchess potato and salad, all for $15.
Saturday, June 2nd
Over on Granville Island, the annual Vancouver International Children’s Festival is on for two more days. From 10am till 8pm, various stages will be offering live and entertaining performances for kids and their parents. Acts include colourful dancing, on stage baking, exciting stories, beautiful music, circus acrobatics, and much more. Hop into the market at any time for a huge choice of snacks for the family.
Sunday, June 3rd
From 10am till 2am the Kitsilano Farmers Market is on today. Check out the freshest, seasonal produce right now (especially if your behind on starting your own little garden this year…) including black garlic, pea shoots, broccolini, and snap peas. Don’t miss food trucks Chouchou Crepes for traditional Brittany crepes and Johhny’s Pops – not really a food truck, more of a food bike and he sells artisanal popsicles made with fresh local fruit.
