Vancouverites can get their swim on again.
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has ended the swimming advisories for English Bay, Sunset Beach, and Jericho Beach.
On August 11, VCH announced English Bay, Sunset Beach, and Jericho beaches were closed due to high levels of E. coli in the water. The bacteria count exceeded a level of more than 200 E. coli bacteria per 100 ml of water.
The advisories for English Bay and Sunset Beach were lifted on August 14. Jericho was deemed safe on August 15.
Kitsilano Beach and Kitsilano Point had swimming advisories earlier this summer but those were lifted on August 3rd.
The City of Vancouver is reminding boaters not to dump raw sewage into local waters, which is one of the contributing factors to E. coli increases and is also illegal.
