Three people have been taken to hospital after a balcony fire broke out at a Kitsilano apartment building this morning.
The fire department was called to the area of West 2nd and Arbutus around 6:00 am. Crews were able to knock the fire down and evacuate the three-story, wood frame building but there were some injuries.
The second-alarm fire brought 36 firefighters to the scene.
Two people taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and one person taken to hospital for some burns to their hands.
There’s extensive damage in at least one of the suites of the apartment building, as well as some smoke and water damage to four other units.
