If you shop at Safeway at Broadway & Macdonald you’ve likely walked past The Source Bulk Foods in the space formerly occupied by Cafe Crepe.
But did you know that The Source is a popular Australian retailer and that their locally-owned Kits location is only their second in North America?
While the zero-waste brand was founded Down Under, it currently operates 64 bulk food stores around the globe in the UK, New Zealand, Ireland, and Singapore.
The Kitsilano location offers over 400 locally-sourced products, including dried fruits, herbs and spices, cereals, pasta, rice, honey, nut butters, oils, and more. Customers are asked to bring reusable containers and have them weighed and recorded empty before filling them, so pricing is accurate.
