It’s full steam ahead for the Kitsilano Showboat this summer. June 20th will see performers return to the stage of the unique seaside venue for the first time since 2019.
“We have an exciting season lined up for 2022,” says Kitsilano Showboat Society President, Barry Leinbach. “This season will be one to remember. Please join us to experience a wide variety of outstanding local talent, including the Eagle Mask Dancers from the Squamish Nation on June 21st, Sambacouver on July 21st, and the Wailele Wai Wai Hawaiian dance troupe on July 29th. As always, we promise a great evening of fun and free entertainment.”
Shows start at 7pm each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from June 20th until August 20th. The June 20th show features the Kitsilano High School Band, a Showboat favourite.
Kitsilano Showboat is a beloved Vancouver institution that dates back to 1935, when it was launched to keep unemployed entertainers performing for audiences that couldn’t afford entertainment. Since then generations of local performers have treated audiences to shows spanning the whole entertainment gamut, all set against the magnificent backdrop of English Bay and the North Shore mountains.
Showboat produces nearly 60 unique performances each season and provides hundreds of entertainers with live outdoor performance experience. Making it all happen is a dedicated team of volunteers.
Please check the Kitsilano Showboat website for performance information.
