Vancouver is taking bold steps into the future with an unanimous city council vote propelling the Jericho Lands project.
This massive plan, led by Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (MST), eyes a whopping 13,000 new homes on the West Side.
It’s a major move toward tackling the city’s housing crunch, with plans stretching from West 4th to West 8th avenues.
Not everyone’s on board though; the Jericho Coalition, voicing nearby residents’ concerns, is uneasy about the plan’s density and towering structures near Jericho Park.
While not set in stone, this vote kickstarts the development plan, also envisioning a school, community center, child-care facilities, an innovative library, and lush park spaces.
